The 26 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly have retracted their notice of impeachment directed at Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

The notice of withdrawal read aloud on the house floor on Wednesday included this information.

They claimed that the choice was taken out of respect for President Bola Tinubu, who called a meeting for reconciliation between the opposing parties on Monday.

On Wednesday morning, the verdict was announced in front of the 26 legislators who supported former governor Nyesom Wike at the House of Assembly Complex.

On Monday, President Tinubu mediated a peace agreement between Fubara and Wike, his predecessor.

According to reports, Wike, who serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, and the governor are engaged in a power struggle that is the source of tension in the state.
