The late musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, is the subject of an investigation being conducted by the Department of Security Services, according to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
This was said in a statement released on Tuesday and signed by the commissioner for information and strategy for the state of Lagos, Gbenga Omotoso.
Last Tuesday marked the passing of Mohbad, a former signee for Naira Marley at Marlian Records. He was 27 years old.
The former Marlian Records signee’s family and supporters were also comforted by the state government.
“We feel the grief of losing such a gifted and promising young man who established himself in a very cutthroat field. “May the All-Powerful grant his soul rest and comfort his grieving family and supporters,” the statement adds.
Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has requested the DSS to join the inquiry and broaden the dragnet with inter-agency cooperation and use of best-in-class technology to uncover the truth, in addition to the police special investigative team in Lagos looking into Mohbad’s death.
“Mr. Sanwo-Olu has ordered that, following an extensive investigation, any those who may have had any sort of involvement in any incident that resulted in MohBad’s death be brought before the law.
So that the child, his family, and throngs of supporters may receive justice, the DSS had also entered the inquiry, it was stated in the following paragraph.
The state administration pleaded with anyone who might be able to provide the inquiry team with crucial information that could help with the process.
“Government also appeals to the investigating team to ensure the confidentiality and protection of all witnesses who may come forward with crucial information or suggestive evidence that may assist the process,” it continued.
An evening of remembrance and a candlelight march for the late artist were both announced by Mohbad’s management on Monday night.
Since Mohbad’s passing, supporters of his music and fans have demanded that an official investigation be conducted to determine the cause of his demise.
The management of the late artist posted on his social media accounts, saying they “appreciate the outpouring of love from Fans across the world to the ones who’ve created events in their communities as a means to honour and pay homage to our brilliant light we say thank you. The candlelight parade and memorial performance for Mohbad are open to everyone.
