The council members of the council have suspended Wale Adedayo, the chairman of the Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State, after he filed a complaint with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The chairman was reportedly suspended for three months by a majority of council members due to suspected incompetence and financial mismanagement, according to The Punch. Adedayo responded to the news by claiming that the tale might be real because on Thursday, August 21, some police officers and thugs attacked the council secretariat. On Thursday morning, it was claimed that hundreds of mobile police officers had taken control of the secretariat in response to Governor Abiodun’s attempt to remove Adedayo from office. The suspended council chairman said in his plea to the EFCC that the governor had not transferred kobo from the federal allocation to the local governments in the state.
