Breaking: Yahaya Bello deposes Kogi monarch, banishes him to Niger State

The Ohimege Igu, Konto-Nkarfe, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isa Koto, was overthrown by the Kogi State Government, led by Governor Yahaya Bello.

Additionally, the overthrown king was exiled to Niger State’s Rijau Local Government District.

In addition, Alhaji Salihu Akawu Seidu, also referred to as SAS, was chosen by state governor Yayaha Bello to succeed Ohimege after his ouster.

Bello declared, “He (Seidu) is to be turbaned immediately to avoid vacuum.”

Alhaji Ahmed Tijani Anaje, who has been the Ohi of Okenwen up till now, was named the new Ohinoyi of Ebiraland by the governor as well.

Bello made an announcement about the events soon after the State Executive Committee met. “We have come to the following resolutions having followed through our Traditional and Chieftaincy Laws, Rules and Regulations and all the due processes,” Bello stated.

The Lokoja/Kogi Local Government Area Traditional Council Chairman, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isah Koto, the Ohimege-Igu Koton-Karfe, is officially dismissed and to be deposed to the Rijau Local Government Area of Niger State.

“The Olu Magongo of Magongo, His Royal Highness Sam Bola Ojo, is to be ousted and taken to Salka, Magama Local Government Area, Niger State.

“The Obobanyi of Emani, His Royal Highness Samuel Adayi Onimisi, is being removed and will be ousted at Doko, Lavun Local Government Area, Niger State.

“That Similar to decision No. 3, which upgrades the stool to first class status and refers to it as “OBOBANYI OF IHIMA” on the promotion letter was made without taking into account the fact that the title is the subject of litigation and that the court of law has not yet reached a possible final decision. Nevertheless, the government has received several petitions urging it to reverse the decision and maintain the status quo until the court of law makes a ruling.

For this reason, the current occupant of the stool is deposed and is hereby reverted to “OBOBANYI OF EMANI.”

“The ONU-IFE in Omala Local Government is to be suspended, indefinitely,” declared His Royal Highness Boniface Musa.

“The Government hereby announces the appointments of the future occupants on the following seats, following appropriate intervention by the Government to address the persistent issues that have characterized the selection process.

“The MAIGARI OF LOKOJA, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir, is hereby appointed.

We officially designate Alhaji Dauda Isah as the MAIYAKI OF KUPA.

Likewise, in accordance with the ODAKI RULING HOUSE’s selection decision dated 27/4/2012 and the Lokoja/Kogi Local Government Area Traditional Council’s endorsement dated 14/5/2012, Mallam Saidu Akawo Salihu is hereby designated as the OHIMEGE-IGU KOTON-KARFE, and he must be turbaned right away to prevent a vacancy.

“Finally, in accordance with the 1998 high court ruling that fully recognizes ODODO as the legitimate offspring of ITA’AZI, the landowner of Ebira, and UHUODO as a separate district in Ebira with equal rights as other districts, the OHI OF UHUODO stool is hereby established, and the procedures for occupying the stool will start immediately.”
