The Save Humanity Advocacy Centre (SHAC) has described the Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr Faisal Shuaib, as a worthy patriot and humanitarian following his recognition as ‘Humanitarian Icon of the Year’.
Shuaib was conferred with the prestigious award by UK-based media group, TheNigerian News, at an event to mark its fifth anniversary on Thursday.
Other award recipients included Governors of Kogi, Bauchi and Nasarawa States, former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim as well as former Chief of Army Staff, now Ambassador to the Benin Republic, Amb. Tukur Buratai.
The event which was chaired by the Minister of Special Duties, Senator George Akume also had His Royal Highness, the Emir of Lafia, Justice Sidi Bade (rtd) as Royal Father of the Day.
According to the company, the award was in recognition of Faisal’s outstanding performance in the areas of primary healthcare delivery and innovations in checkmating the spread of Covid pandemic across the country through relentless vaccination.
Congratulating Dr Shuaib on this feat, the SHAC, in a statement signed by its Executive Director, Joyce Ogwu, said the health agency has so far risen to the occasion at a time the world is battling a pandemic.
Ogwu said the NPHCDA boss has shown an exceptional commitment towards improving the health and quality of life of Nigerians.
She noted that under Dr Shuaib, the agency has made considerable efforts at improving access to basic healthcare for all citizens.
Following the detection of the Omicron Covid variant in the country, the Centre, however, urged Dr Shuaib and his management staff not to relent.
