The recent U.S. presidential election has sparked division among Nigerians worldwide, with opinions sharply split between support for Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

The entertainment industry was not left out of this discourse, as notable Nigerian figures voiced their perspectives even after Trump was declared the winner on November 6, 2024.

Popular music artiste David Adeleke participated fully in the U.S. election process. On Tuesday, he made history by casting his first-ever vote in the election. He went a step further by congratulating Trump on his win while commending Kamala. In a post on his X account, he wrote, “Congratulations US 47th President @realDonaldTrump, but you!! @KamalaHarris should be proud!! You did that! A solid woman.”

In a lengthy congratulatory message, actress Rita Edochie celebrated Trump, describing him as an angel: “Congratulations. A particular angel has just been sent to America for the second time to continue from where he stopped. There’s no upright personality I have ever supported that doesn’t embrace victory. I have been constantly addressed as Mama Trump due to my effective and unrelenting support of his political craft and adventure. Today, he has been declared the winner of the American presidential election. I am so elated. May his vision for a better tomorrow be realised, and may God bless America!”

Another actor, Yul Edochie, took to Instagram to celebrate Trump’s victory. He wrote, “My man for life. I said it since last year that Trump is coming back, but many doubted it. Never mess with a man who has grace. Congratulations, Mr. President @realdonaldtrump, Leader of the Stubborn Boys Association. A true definition of the term ‘never give up’. An epitome of grace. I wish you a beautiful tenure. May God lead you always.”

Other celebrities, such as veteran actor Emeka Ike and controversial social media personality Martins Otse, aka VDM, also joined in congratulating Trump.

Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, showed unwavering support for Kamala by regularly posting write-ups, videos, and pictures on his social media pages. After news broke that Donald Trump won the election with a landslide over his opponent Kamala Harris, Charly Boy wrote on his Instagram page, “On behalf of all the lovers and fans of Kamala Harris, sorry we lost. Our alpha woman ran the most intelligent campaign in less than 100 days. We win some, we lose some, and that’s life. It’s unfortunate, but leadership globally has gone south as the worst of us rules the best of us. It shall be well.”
