Cherubim and Seraphim, pastor Taiwo Odebiyi set lady on fire during deliverance prayer

A pastor named Taiwo Odebiyi is accused of setting Sukura Owodunni, 21, on fire at his Cherubim and Seraphim Maberu Parish in Offin, Sagamu, Ogun State, when he was attempting to perform deliverance on her.

The incident occurred on August 17, 2023, when the victim went to the church for a special prayer at the pastor’s invitation.

The victim was instructed by the pastor to get local eggs, the scent Amazing Grace, and a candle for the specific prayer, our correspondent further learned.

The priest is alleged to have lit the candle and applied the perfume to the woman’s body while praying for her.

As soon as the pastor ignited the candle, Owodunni allegedly burst into flames, suffering severe burns to her breast, shoulder, and legs.

According to a witness, the Divisional Police Officer for Adigbe, CSP Abdulfattah Ogunsanya, and his men raided the scene on Tuesday, and the culprit was promptly apprehended.

The state police public relations officer, SP Omolola Odutola, who spoke with our correspondent on Wednesday to corroborate the occurrence, said when reached that additional investigation had started to determine the facts of the matter.

“The woman was allegedly left to pay for her own medical expenses after the event. The victim has been transported to the hospital for treatment.

“The suspect has been detained by our personnel. Following the completion of the preliminary inquiry, the matter will be submitted to the State Criminal inquiry Department, according to Odutola.
