Educational and non-academic actions on the Nasarawa State School of Schooling, COE, Akwanga, got here to a halt on Wednesday as employees, below the umbrella of the Joint Union, declared an indefinite strike to push for his or her calls for.

The choice was communicated in a letter dated Tuesday, March 19, citing the establishment’s Governing Council’s insensitivity and lack of response to earlier ultimatums.

The union said that the strike motion turned essential because of the non-implementation of promotions from 2019 so far, non-payment of backlog gratuity owed by the School, and non-payment of promotion arrears from 2015 so far.

These unresolved points had been identified within the letter addressed to the Chairman of the Governing Council.

Regardless of the strike, the joint union acknowledged the efforts of the Commissioner of Schooling, Mr John Mamman, and the Jonathan Thani-led administration of the School for his or her interventions in trying to resolve the problems.

The union, comprising COEASU, SSUCOEN, and NASU, expressed appreciation for the interventions however said the necessity for concrete actions to handle their grievances.
