A 27-year-old convict, Ibrahim Yahaya, has been shot lifeless in Abuja by males of the Correctional Service after he allegedly jumped down from the car conveying him to jail in a bid to flee.
The Police Public Relations Officer within the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, SP Josephine Adeh confirmed the incident in a press release on Tuesday in Abuja.
In response to her, the convict, who was arrested by the operatives of the Abuja Environmental Safety Board, AEPB, Job Power, was tried and convicted by a Cellular Courtroom sitting in Wuse Market.
“The convict, alongside others, was being conveyed to the jail, when he reportedly jumped from the car and took to his heels in an try to flee.
“Two armed corrections personnel, who had been within the car, went after him and within the course of, shot him.
“The convict was instantly rushed to a close-by hospital the place medical doctors on floor confirmed him lifeless,” she stated.
