Governor Bassey Edet Otu of Cross River State has appointed the chairman of the FCT Chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Emmanuel Ogbeche, as his Chief Press Secretary (CPS).
This was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday in Calabar by the Permanent Secretary, General Administration, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Innocent Eteng.
According to the statement, the governor also appointed his Chief of Staff and Secretary to the State Government, among others.
Eteng listed the new appointees to include Anthony Owan-Enoh as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG); Emmanuel Ironbar as the Chief of Staff; Major General Okoi Ubi Obono (Rtd) as the Senior Special Adviser-Security (State Security Adviser) and AIG John Abang (Rtd) as the Special Adviser-Security (Central).
Governor Otu also appointed Achu Ben Olayi as Special Adviser-Security (North); Commander Patrick Odiong (Rtd) as Special Adviser–Security (South); Emmanuel Ipole Ogbeche as his Chief Press Secretary; and Sylvester Otu Abang as the Acting State Chief of Protocol.
He also set up two task force teams on government vehicle recovery and anti-deforestation.
The vehicle recovery task force, which has Odey Ochicha as the Chairman and Emmanuel Eyo as Secretary, has been mandated to commence the immediate recovery of all Government vehicles and hand them over to the Transport Officer, Governor’s Office for appropriate documentation and custody.
In the same vein, the Special Taskforce on Anti-Deforestation, which has Charles Ikpeme as Chairman and Pius Abang as Secretary, has been directed to curb all forms of illegal wood logging in the forest, in order to preserve the rich biodiversity of the state as well as apprehend defaulters.
