The number of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, lawmakers in the Edo State House of Assembly has been reduced by one as Ojiezele Osezua Sunday, on Monday, defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
According to report Ojiezele is representing the Esan South-East constituency.
The lawmaker who was elected on the platform of APC between 2019 and 2023, was among the 10 lawmakers who were inaugurated by the immediate past Governor Godwin Obaseki.
He, however, defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, he was also re-elected in the 2023 general election on the platform of PDP.
The two-time lawmaker was received by the Acting State chairman of the party, Jarret Tenebe alongside members of the state executive council.
Ojiezele, who described his defection as homecoming noted that he left PDP because of the irreconcilable crisis rocking the party both in the state and at the national levels.
The defected lawmaker, who represents the PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo in the last September 21, 2024 governorship election constituency, promised to woo more of his supporters back to the party.
Receiving the lawmaker back to the party, Tenebe said more members of opposition parties would join the party
14 PDP members were elected in the 24-member state House of Assembly, nine APC and one Labour Party.
