Veteran singer, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has commended Nigerian youths for their peaceful conduct in the ongoing protest over the controversial presidential election results in Abuja.
Recall that the nation’s capital was hit by a series of protests after the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the winner of the February 25th presidential election.
The other two major contenders in the election; Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party rejected the results.
Consequently, their supporters took to the streets to kick against the May 29 inauguration of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu.
While lauding the peaceful nature of the protest, Charly Boy expressed regret for not joining the protesters.
He explained that he couldn’t make it for health reasons.
The self-proclaimed Area Fada, however, promised to lead the “mother of all rallies” next week, revealing that he was recovering speedily.
In a tweet on Monday, Charly Boy wrote, “Courageous Youths, I appreciate you all for the peaceful way you’ve conducted yourselves in the Abuja ongoing rally so far.
But for my medical challenge I would have been with you all.”
He added, “However, am recovering quickly and hopefully by next week I should be joining you all for the mother of all rallies.
“They will never mess with our mandate.
Der fathers.”.
