The allegations against Godwin Emefiele, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), are so numerous that the Federal Government is at a loss as to which charge to bring against him, according to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

He said this yesterday at the Tai Local Council of the state in Koroma, during a Thanksgiving service hosted by the representative of the Rivers South-East Senatorial District, Barinada Mpigi.

The third citizen also attributed the nation’s economic woes to the decisions and deeds that “they took.” He made no mention of who “they” are. Akpabio went on to say that the current state of hunger and economic hardship is a result of nearly 60 years of decay.

The former governor of Akwa Ibom State urged Nigerians to exercise patience, assuring them that the current government would fulfill the commitments for which they had “campaigned and danced” across the nation.

“So, a lot of people do not understand the kind of debt and the economic mess that we are in,” Akpabio remarked.

“I recall President Obama saying that you cannot know Washington until you visit Washington,” he went on. Therefore, the country’s economic situation was dire by the time we arrived to examine it.

“You know, we’re not even sure what to charge the former governor of the central bank with.

“Whether to charge him for illegally possessing a firearm, for putting foam on top of a pail, or for printing notes without receiving payment.” I’m not sure what we will accuse him of.

“However, we are fighting to guarantee that Nigerians can go to sleep with their eyes closed. We acknowledge that there is hunger today as a result of the policies and actions that they took, and I believe that every political party should as well.

“Insecurity exists. We are fighting to guarantee that Nigerians have access to three square meals a day.

But don’t worry, we did indeed campaign for this position—we traveled the nation dancing and campaigning. We won’t disappoint you.
