FG inaugurates 13-man committee for National Merit Award

The federal government yesterday inaugurated a 13-man committee of the 4th National Productivity Order of Merit Award Committee (NPOMAC) for the process of selecting the awardees for the year 2024.

Daily Trust reports that the award, meant to encourage individuals, organisations and other categories regarding their productivity and contributions to the growth of the country, began in 1991.

Members of the committee were nominated from various sectors such as Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA), Office to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OHSCF) and Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN).

Others include the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry Mines Agriculture (NACCIMA), and Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) among others.

Speaking during the inauguration that was held in Abuja, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, said the 13- man committee was inaugurated to determine the recipients of the next NPOM Award of the National Productivity Centre (NPC).

On his part, the Director-General of NPC, Dr Nasir Raji-Mustapha, said the award was designed to recognise and honour the most productive individuals.
