The Director General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, has said that the Federal Government through his commission will replicate the gender sensitisation training on the adoption of clean cooking solutions in the six geopolitical zones of the country.

Abdullahi, who spoke at the closing ceremony of the two-day gender sensitisation training on the adoption of clean cooking solutions, organised for women by ECN in Abuja, said the adoption would reduce environmental degradation, and enhance the socio-economic well-being of women and their families.

The DG, who re-echoed the commitment of the commission to reduce carbon emissions, said he would open venues for feedback to know how the beneficiaries of the training are doing.

He said: “I want to say that the sensitisation does not end here. This is just the beginning. And that’s also a pilot. We’ve just used the Kurudu participants as the pilot stage, and we aim to go around the entire six geopolitical zones with the same sensitisation training.

“It is a commitment that the energy commission has made already that we will try to reduce carbon emissions and also try to solve problems of energy in all the ramifications. So my hope is that we go back home with a cleaner mind that we’ve solved at least the problem that we have in cooking, and domestic cooking appliances.

“Before we get to the next stage, before we go to the next area to do the same sensitization, we’ll be hoping to get feedback from you, the participants, so that it will hopefully improve on what we have here today’’.

Speaking after the participants were presented with certificates of attendance, the Deputy Director, Engineer Training and Manpower Development Department, Mrs. Ikeme Chinwe, thanked the commission’s DG for his support to the programme, and called on the participants to put their acquired knowledge to use.
