…Allow palliatives to reach the weak and disadvantaged.

Oba Adeyemo Adejugbe, a prominent traditional leader and the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, advised the federal government on Thursday to spend the money made from the elimination of fuel subsidies on infrastructure, including repairing the refineries.

Adejugbe also advised the Federal Government to make sure that the palliatives it was releasing for the underprivileged and defenceless citizens to lessen the pain of the effect of subsidy removal on them reached the people it was intended for.

While touring rural and urban communities in the kingdom to evaluate the need for development as part of preparations for the 2023 Udiroko Festival, the monarch spoke in Ado Ekiti.

“I want to make a plea to the federal government that they should ensure that the palliatives that are intended for the poor people reach them,” said Oba Adejugbe.

“The Federal Government should make sure that the money obtained from the removal of oil subsidies is used to improve the nation’s infrastructure. The nation’s refineries need to be fixed. The cost of petroleum products will decrease if the refineries are operating.

The monarch pleaded with Nigerians to be patient with the Federal Government and said President Bola Tinubu had good plans for the nation. If we give the president a chance to prove himself, he will do well for this nation, he said.

The traditional leader argued for the project’s prompt completion and praised the Ekiti State Government for the ongoing construction of Omisanjana – Ajebandele Road in the state’s capital. He said it would increase economic activity in the area and improve the lives of the locals.

Oba Adejugbe expressed his satisfaction with the councils’ activities as well as the growth and development in Ado Ekiti when he visited the four council areas in the kingdom, which include Ado Local Government and Ado West, Ado North, and Ado Central local council development areas.

The traditional ruler’s visit, which they described as novel, was praised by the chairmen of the four councils: Ado LG, Bosun Osaloni; Ado West LCDA, Taiwo Alagba; Ado Central LCDA, Toyin Ojo; and Ado North LCDA, Yomi Oso.

Ojo pledged that his administration would make every effort to finish all ongoing projects in his LCDA by the end of December.
