Fuel subsidy: You’re acting Peter Obi’s script, says Fani-Kayode, criticizes NLC

Femi Fani-Kayode, a senior member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has chastised the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, for its plan to shut down the country’s economy by going on strike on Wednesday.

Following the astronomical increase in petroleum pump prices caused by the removal of fuel subsidies, NCL declared a nationwide strike beginning this Wednesday.

President Bola Tinubu’s Federal Government’s efforts to quell the rage have yet to bear fruit.

The union refused to meet with the FG on Sunday.

In response to the planned strike, Fani-Kayode lambasted the NLC in a statement on his Twitter handle on Monday, questioning why it was silent when Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Governor Godwin Emefiele “introduced his horrendous” cashless policy earlier this year.

“When the sadistic monster called Emefiele introduced his horrendous, callous, wicked, malevolent, barbaric, vicious, self-seeking, politically-motivated, unconstitutional and illegal cash confiscation and money deprivation policy that resulted in the suffering, hunger, destruction, death, suicide, hardship, depression, frustration, madness, and despair of millions of our people,” the statement reads.

“Instead, they are threatening to strike over the implementation of a well-thought-out and credible policy on oil subsidies, which the Nigerian people endorsed by electing a President who promised to remove it, and which, though initially difficult, will inevitably and eventually result in the restoration and resurrection of our economy, as well as ensuring that we have the necessary funds and resources for massive infrastructural development.”

“Isn’t this strange, and isn’t it a reflection of the Labour Congress leadership’s insincerity, double standards, and hypocrisy?”

“Doesn’t it demonstrate that they are acting out a script and are nothing more than a pack of ravenous wolves, implacable adversaries, insidious subversives, and opportunistic mercenaries in Peter Obi’s hands and power?”

“If Peter commands them to jump, they will inquire, ‘Bwana, how high?'” However, whether the NLC likes it or not, the oil subsidy MUST and WILL be eliminated.

“That is the only way to save our country from the fiscal challenges, rot, and deterioration it has experienced over the last 15 years and put us back on track for national development.”
