The Unbiased Corrupt Practices and Different Associated Offenses Fee, ICPC, has questioned two officers of the Central Financial institution of Nigeria, CBN, and one from the Workplace of the Accountant-Basic of the Federation, OAGF, over a $3.4 billion mortgage allegedly granted to Nigeria by the Worldwide Financial Fund, IMF.
reporter remembers that the Socio-Financial Rights and Accountability Challenge, SERAP, had filed a lawsuit towards President Bola Tinubu for failing to probe the $3.4 billion mortgage that was both “lacking, diverted or unaccounted for.”
The group stated the lawsuit was according to Part 16(1) and (2) of the 1999 Structure.
Following requires investigation from varied civil society organizations, the ICPC has retrieved important paperwork on the mortgage, which was meant to finance the funds and to handle COVID-19.
In response to a supply who spoke to The Nation, the probe of the mortgage was already in progress.
“ICPC has launched a complete investigation into the $3.4 billion mortgage.
“The fee started the probe after it had reviewed the report of the Auditor-Basic of the Federation.
“Our investigators try to ascertain if the money was lacking, diverted, or unaccounted for.
“The paperwork regarding the mortgage have been retrieved from the CBN, the OAGF, and the Ministry of Finance.
“Some CBN and OAGF officers have been interviewed, and the officers of the Ministry of Finance will probably be interviewed within the coming (this) week.
“Investigation is ongoing into the varied approval and utilisation of the funds by the beneficiaries,” he stated.
