A few days following the apprehension of fifteen individuals for diverse criminal transgressions, the Sokoto State Police Command has successfully eliminated another suspected bandit and retrieved an AK-47 rifle.
This can be found in a press release that state Commissioner of Police Ali Kaigama’s spokesperson, ASP Ahmed Rufai, signed and provided to our correspondent on Sunday.
According to the statement, five suspects were apprehended while traveling to Tambuwal on a kidnapping mission, carrying three AK-47s and ninety rounds of live ammunition.
It said, “Further investigation revealed that their leader and supplier of weapons and ammunition happens to be one notorious kingpin named Bello Hantsi aka Mai Dubu-Dubu, M, of Tungar Rana Village via Sabon Birni in Kware LGA.
“At approximately 03:30 today, members of the Anti-Kidnapping unit mobilized alongside DPO Kware Division and his men to search for the suspect. He fired a shot to avoid capture after spotting the team and smelling danger near a bush, but the team quickly neutralized him, sending other members flying with bullet wounds.
“The body of one suspected bandit as well as one Ak47 rifle with 21 rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the scene,” the statement continued.
The state’s citizens are urged to continue providing timely information to the command and other security agencies in the state, the Commissioner of Police said, praising the officer’s professionalism and dedication.
According to him, the command and other security agencies will be able to act quickly and decisively against any state criminal who refuses to cooperate with them if they have information on suspected criminal activity.
Under his stewardship, he further reaffirmed the command’s commitment to guaranteeing the safety of lives and property of the state’s good citizens.
