The supplementary national, state, and local assembly elections are scheduled for Saturday, April 15, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Festus Okoye, National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, who made this announcement, explained that the decision was made by the electoral umpire after it met yesterday to review areas where supplementary elections are necessary to finish pending elections nationwide.
The announcement comes just one week after Kebbi and Adamawa states’ governorship elections were declared to be invalid.
Okoye reaffirmed that results for the 26 governorship, 104 senate, 329 federal, and 935 state constituencies had been announced.

He declared that the states of Adamawa and Kebbi, five senatorial districts, 31 federal constituencies, and 58 state assembly constituencies would all hold additional governorship elections.
Okoye noted that only a small number of polling places in some constituencies would host supplementary elections as a result of the competitiveness of the elections, particularly for legislative seats.
On or before March 29, 2023, he stated, “Our website will publish a detailed list of the polling units by State, Local Government, Registration Area, registered voters, and Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) collected.
We request that all candidates, political parties, and other interested parties pay attention to the dates and locations of the supplementary elections.

For the additional elections, the previous accreditation for observers, polling and collation agents, and the media is still valid.
“The Commission reiterates its call to view the exercise as an election and not a war among political parties, candidates, and their supporters. They should refrain from making inflammatory remarks and engaging in counterproductive mobilization so that the elections can proceed and be completed on time.
