On Thursday, Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Yusuf swore in 45 Special Advisers who had been examined and confirmed by the State House of Assembly.

Yusuf addressed the appointees after their inauguration, saying their appointment was in line with the need for more resourceful hands to carry out government operations effectively.

He explained that they were appointed on the basis of merit, dedication, loyalty, and commitment, with the expectation that they will relentlessly participate in and positively contribute to propelling Kano State to greater heights.

The Governor stated that they are expected to be diligent in their tasks, stating that “the current administration is all out to protect the interests of the good people of the state and to ensure fulfillment of promises made to the electorates during the campaign period.”

He informed the special advisers that much is expected of them in terms of offering meaningful advice on pertinent problems and liaising with other public office holders and civil officials to ensure that government policies and programs are coordinated in compliance with the laws.

“As the engine room of actualising government initiatives, civil servants need to be dedicated, committed, and render selfless service towards developing our dear state, and to serve the people diligently,” he said.

“While we do our best to pay salaries and other entitlements, we as a government would not tolerate truancy, laxity, or other lukewarm attitudes that are detrimental to effective service delivery.”
