The Ohimege Igu, Konto-Nkarfe, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Kotofor, a first-class traditional ruler, has been questioned by the Kogi State Government for allegedly participating in partisanship during the recently ended governorship election.
The inquiry, dated November 22, 2023, and bearing reference number MLGCA/CHI/S/P/359/1/36, was signed by Salami Deedat, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
“It has come to the notice of the state government that you deliberately engaged in partisan role in the recently conducted Kogi State gubernatorial election,” the commissioner asked.
“This is taken extremely seriously, particularly in light of the fact that your actions, involvement in partisan politics, and role threatened the security of your domain to the point where a crisis occurred under your supervision, resulting in the death of an innocent young woman and the injuries of several others.
“It is a tragic contrast to your intended role as a respected royal father that you are acting in such a clear manner. What is more concerning is your lack of concern when your actions endangered the state’s highly desired peace and security.
Given the foregoing, you are thus required to provide a written justification for why disciplinary action shouldn’t be taken against you in a timely manner, no later than 48 hours.
“When a panel appointed by the state government to review your case is formed, you might also be asked to provide oral explanations.”
