At the STETSCOM Science Exhibition in 2021 and 2022, the students—Samson Emeje, 29, Yusuf Ayuba, 20, and Tenimu Abubakar, 18—invented and displayed an electrically-powered tricycle and SUV.
Williams Charles, the institute’s rector, gave the students their admission letters on Wednesday and noted that they had demonstrated rare technical prowess and merited assistance in developing their skills so they could benefit society.
According to Charles, the institute has received international recognition for its manpower training in advancing science and technology, which has helped the state’s growth and development.
He claimed that the achievement of the students in creating an electrically powered tricycle and SUV for the STETSCOM Science Exhibition in 2021 and 2022 inspired the institute’s management to take action.
The students’ use of locally sourced materials demonstrated their innovative skills, and the rector praised them for doing so. He emphasised that those with creative minds are unique because of their capacity to take ideas from paper to reality.
Gov. Yahaya Bello was praised for his unwavering dedication to the institution, but he also made an appeal for more help in order to meet the requirements of the upcoming resource inspection by the National Board for Technical Education.
Charles urged government officials, corporate leaders, and political figures to focus their attention on young people with natural talents like the three students so they could give them the chance to enrol in the institute’s life-transformation programmes.
Emeje, one of the recipients, thanked the rector for the kindness on behalf of his fellow recipients and said that attending the institute was a dream come true.
Emeje, who credited God with the talent, claimed that he was inspired by his childhood and had frequently created such innovations with ease.
He expressed gratitude to the NKFI management for the scholarships and for providing them with the chance to pursue their dreams.
The college’s principal, Mr. Zakari Jonah, expressed his gratitude to the institute for the scholarship and pledged to encourage secondary school students to attend the institution in order to further their academic goals.
Jonah pleaded with all levels of government to reach out to the community to find talents and nurture them through technical and vocational education in order to make them independent.
