The rehabilitation of four significant roads under the Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme has received approval from the Federal Government, which has been praised by the Kwara State House of Assembly.
There are several roads that connect the state to the Benin Republic, including Kosubosu-Kaiama-Bode Saadu (130 km), Bacita-Shonga-Lafiagi (83 km), Eiyenkorin-Afon-Offa-Odo Ottin (49 km), and Okuta-Bukuro Road (32km). These total 294 kilometers.
While the President, Major General Mohammadu Buhari (retd), recently signed Executive Order 7, under which the roads would be rehabilitated by the BUA Group, the Federal Executive Council on Wednesday approved the rehabilitation of the roads in various parts of Kwara State.
Abdullahi Danbaba (Kaiam/Kemanji/Wajibe constituency) relied on Order VII, Rule 40 of the House Rules to present a Matter of General Public Importance on the need to appreciate and commend the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Kwara State Government and the BUA Group on the approval by the Federal Government for the construction of four notable roads in the state which was supported by other members of the Assembly at its plenary on Thursday.
The Assembly in its resolution appreciated the Federal Government and commended the state governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, and the BUA Group for the monumental achievement on the construction of the four roads which is expected to improve the socio-economic activities of the people of Kwara State.
It urged the BUA Group to expedite actions at ensuring that the projects were delivered timely and to specification.
Meanwhile, the Kwara North Development Council has commended the Buhari regime over the approval to construct some major roads across the zone.
KWANDCO, in a statement through its Chairman, Ahmed Muhammad, has described as commendable the listing of the four roads among the federal projects using the President’s Executive Order 7 under the Infrastructure Tax Credit Scheme.
“We, on behalf of the people of Kwara North, Kwara State and the commuting public, want to appreciate the APC and President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government for considering the plight of the people of the area and, indeed, the commuting public,” Ahmed said.
“We want to use this medium to appeal to the BUA Group to ensure speedy commencement and quality work.
“We urge the BUA to consider the plight of the people in the captured areas as the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. Continuity and completion in good time can only be guaranteed when the projects are properly funded,” the Chairman added.
