Kwara pays N3bn to clear SUBEB academics, LG employees’ wage arrears

The Kwara State Authorities has lastly cleared all of the wage arrears for State Common Fundamental Schooling Board, SUBEB, academics and native authorities employees inherited from the administration of former Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed amounting to about N3 billion.

An announcement issued by the Press Secretary, Babatunde Toyin Abdulrasheed, mentioned, “Figures from the final allocation assembly of the native authorities confirmed that the federal government dedicated N1,297,389,165.83 to clear the stability of the arrears owed to the SUBEB academics.

“One other N1,622,673,992.12 was apportioned to clear the stability of the arrears for the native authorities employees prior to now administration, in accordance with the information from the allocation assembly.”

The assertion additional defined that between January 2020 and January 2024, the administration has spent not less than N5.5 billion to offset the arrears of wage for SUBEB academics, native authorities employees and native authorities pensioners alone, other than assembly its multibillion naira month-to-month obligations to those classes of employees and plenty of others because it was elected in 2019.

Based on the assertion, the federal government has authorized cash-backing for the implementation of 2022 promotion for instructing and non-teaching employees of the SUBEB.

It mentioned that the ultimate settlement of the SUBEB and native authorities wage arrears brings to a detailed the constant agitation for the cost of the cash, which dated again to 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019.
