Kwara: Police parade 28 suspected criminals

Along with 18 alleged kidnappers, 3 suspected armed robbers, and 2 ritualists, the Kwara State Police Command paraded 28 suspected criminals on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters at the police headquarters in Ilorin on the harvest of arrests, state Commissioner of Police Victor Olaiya revealed that 78 kidnapping suspects who have been apprehended since October 2023 are being held at various state correctional facilities.

Victor stated that of the 28 accused criminals, 18 were suspected of kidnapping. These individuals were paraded on Thursday.

He voiced worry about the threat posed by kidnapping incidents and stated that the police would not give up until the state was completely devoid of them.

We have been taking action to ensure their preservation there because we are concerned. A number of the kingpins also have an unrealistic belief that nothing bad can ever happen to them and that they will be executed if they are apprehended.

The commissioner of police put the increase in violent crimes down to long-term medical conditions, stating that “criminals don’t do issues with clear eyes.”

“One of the biggest problems we have to deal with is medicine. As much as possible, we must keep drugs out of circulation.

“The federal government needs to step back in for many who are willing to change; we would like a house for them to keep them off medication and the streets for a cheap time from the substance and the type of life they reside in and provide them a second chance.”

The others were two ritualists who were allegedly found in possession of human elements, three armed theft suspects, and nine further suspected kidnappers.
