Lagos Island market records second major fire outbreak in 24 hours

Barely 24 hours after fire razed down the Cosmetics and hair attachment section of Balogun market in central business district area of Lagos Island, another fire outbreak has been recorded in a major market the Local Government Area.

This time around, fire gutted down shops at Dosumu Market offf Idumagbo avenue, Lagos Island.

Daily Trust reports that property worth billions of naira were destroyed by fire on Monday at the Cosmetics, hair Attachment section at Issah Williams Street, off Breadfruit Street, Balogun Market.

Monday’s fire razed down about 20 built-up shops, three warehouses and and 16 attachments in a three Storey building in the Balogun business district.

But residents of Dosumu market district woke up on Tuesday to witness a fire outbreak.

Territorial Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the recent fire outbreak.

Farinloye said the market fire outbreak occurred at Dosumu Market off Idumagbo avenue.

He said more fire service officials are being mobilized to the scene.
