ABUJA—Legal professionals in the nation have been urged by President Bola Tinubu to recommit to providing services that will advance the country.

When he opened the Nigerian Bar Association’s 2023 Annual General Conference in Abuja, the President argued that such rededication required a mental shift and a complete determination to advancing the country.

This occurred after Mr. Tony Elumelu, Chairman of United Bank of Nigeria, UBA Plc, stated yesterday that Nigerians must work together to strengthen the country in order to provide youths a brighter future.

According to Tinubu, the conference’s theme was “very appropriate and pertinent to our current circumstances as a country.”

“We have to get it right,” the president remarked. Why do we have so much good fortune but still lack? Reframe your thinking. We frequently lament the past, but is that the best course of action? No.

“Be adamant about moving forward. We have free choice and a creative intellect thanks to God. Nigeria is our nation and our ancestral home. The president continued, “It is our duty to construct it.
Furthermore, he asserted that his administration will work well with the private sector, which he characterized as the main generator of economic growth and prosperity.

Such collaboration, according to him, would guarantee that Nigerians would receive the benefits of democracy.

President Tinubu expressed his gratitude to the NBA for allowing him the honor of declaring the conference open and expressed his confidence that the country will improve quickly thanks to the kind of individuals he had appointed to his cabinet as Ministers.

President Tinubu stated that “a change of mentality and a change of approach to government” was what he expected from his ministers.

Elumelu must enlist the help of Nigerians to build the country.

Elumelu made the following statement at the NBA’s annual general meeting in Abuja: “Let us approach the work of nation-building with unflinching commitment, guided by the values of unity, inclusivity, and progress.

Let us pursue nation-building with unflinching tenacity, empathy, and the resolve to leave a legacy of advancement, harmony, and hope for future generations.

Elumelu emphasized that nation-building necessitates investing in young people, women, the power industry, security, social infrastructure, and the Nigerian brand. He also said that this demands a fundamental renovation of Nigeria’s social and economic infrastructure.
He stated: “At its root, nation-building is the complex process of creating a heterogeneous group of people with a shared culture and set of ideals into a coherent, peaceful, and united community. It is the art of creating a collective identity, mission, and vision that is greater than all individual interests.

“Our combined dedication, working across political allegiances, racial and ethnic disparities, and socioeconomic differences, is necessary for the transformation of Nigeria. One for which our government is not solely responsible.

Not just great leaders, but great people are the foundation of great nations. For this national rejuvenation and nation-building, our commercial sector, our philanthropies, our civil society, and all people must be brought together and empowered – as real, respected, and effective participants. To rebuild Nigeria, we must work together in unison.
