Abia State Independent Electoral Commission, ABSIEC, has told the adhoc staff who worked during the November 2, 2024 local government election that their entitlements will be paid.

This is coming amid concern that the workers have not been paid over one month after the exercise.

The Commission also appealed to the general public to ignore those it described as mischief makers who, according to it, are mobilizing some young persons to protest because of the delay in the payment of their money.

A statement issued by Afulike Don Christian, the Special Assistant to the Chairman of ABSIEC on Communication, Planning and Strategy on Sunday evening, said that the claims that the electoral umpire will not pay the adhoc staff for the services they rendered during the local government elections are false.

“The commission wishes to state that its account department has already finalized plans with the lead bank of the Commission to credit the concerned individual accounts in the next few hours from now,” he said.

The Commission further said that it operates on the platform of “new Abia mantra where every worker that deserves his or her wages must be paid”.
