The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national leadership has rejected the suspension of former Kaduna State Governor and former Acting National Chairman of our Party, Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, in Kaduna State.
The party said the suspension is null and void and has no effect because it violates the provisions of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017).
According to reports, the former governor was suspended by the PDP Ward Executive of Tudun Wada Ward in Kaduna State’s Makarfi Local Government Area.
Makarfi served as acting national chairman of the party and ran for the PDP presidential nomination in 2019.
But in a statement, the national publicity secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, on Monday, the party said, “The attention of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been drawn to the purported suspension of former Governor of Kaduna State and former Acting National Chairman of our Party, Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, reportedly by the Ward Executive of Tudun Wada Ward of Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
“The NWC, after careful consideration of all the issues raised by the Ward Executive, hereby declares the purported decision and action of the Tudun Wada Ward Executives, which border on issues of discipline, to be null and void and of no effect, as it is inconsistent with the provisions of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017).”

“Notwithstanding any other provision relating to discipline, no Executive Committee, at any level except the National Executive Committee, shall entertain any question of discipline as may relate or concern a member of the National Executive Committee, Deputy Governor, or member of the National Assembly,” Section 57 (7) states.
“The NWC therefore charges all leaders, critical stakeholders, members, and throngs of supporters of our Party in Kaduna State, as well as the general public, to disregard the alleged suspension of Senator Makarfi by the Ward as a member of our Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).”
“The NWC also charges all Party members in Kaduna State to remain united at this critical time, especially as the Party leadership is progressing in our concerted effort to ensure comprehensive reconciliation in our Party,” the party stated.
