A 28-year-old medical practitioner, Chijioke Precious and 17 others were on Wednesday arrested by the Uyo Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), over alleged internet fraud in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
According to a statement released by the EFCC, the suspects were arrested at Umuguma area of the state capital, popularly known as “World Bank” based on intelligence reports.
Items recovered from the suspects according to the Commission includes 7 luxurious cars, 20 sophisticated mobile phones, more than 12 laptops, four inverter batteries, one big screen television and jewelries suspected to be proceeds of crime.
It disclosed further that those arrested will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
