Security operatives in Katsina State will launch joint operations against terrorists operating in the state this week.

The police, troops from the Nigeria Army, the Nigeria Airforce, and operatives from the Department of State Security Service will all be involved in the exercise.

Members of the registered vigilante may also be involved in the exercise, it was learned.

ASP Aliyu Abubakar, spokesman for the Katsina police command, confirmed the development.

“Yes, the information is correct,” he said. “There will be a joint operation against bandits in the state this week, but I cannot reveal any more details at this time.”

Other credible sources revealed that security operatives had identified all of the terrorists’ areas of operation, particularly their routes during the rainy season, and are planning to crack down on them “anytime from now.”

It was also discovered that terrorists had recently increased their attacks in Katsina State, particularly in communities bordering Zamfara and Kaduna states.

Terrorists killed one Rabilu Tukur of Dan Ali village on Sunday, according to a resident of Dan Ali, Danmusa Local Government Area of the state.

The resident, who requested anonymity, stated that the victim, a Danmusa LGA employee, was returning home when terrorists swooped on him and killed him shortly after dropping someone he gave a ride to on his motorbike in Tashar Biri village.

“He used his motorbike for commercial purposes and had conveyed a passenger to Tashar Biri village, and was on his way back when the killers followed him and attacked him using a cutlass to hack him to death in broad daylight,” the resident said.

The incident was also confirmed by a police spokesman.

The resident also revealed that terrorists had tracked down some residents who had fled to Dan Ali village with their domestic animals for safety, and that the terrorists had later rustled all of the animals.

Terrorists were also said to have attacked Maidabino village, which is also in the council area, last Friday, where they allegedly carried out a house-to-house raid, killed one person, kidnapped his wife, and rustled his animals.

According to a local, the attack happened around 2 p.m. that day.
