A 17-year-old girl, Hameedah Akinbode, who went missing after leaving her parents’ residence at the Baale Bus Stop in the Bariga area of Lagos State, on October 20, 2024, has returned home following a PUNCH Metro report.
Akinbode’s mother, Rukayya, shared the news with our correspondent through a WhatsApp message on Sunday.
Rukayat had appealed to the public for assistance in locating her 17-year-old daughter after reports revealed that Hameedah had told her parents she was going to visit a friend in Oshodi during an Islamic programme in the area.
The mother had said, “When she left, she said she was heading to Oshodi and told her friends she’d be back shortly. I have no information about the person she said she was going to visit.
“We reported the case at the Ifako Police Station and have also visited Area F and Zone 2 headquarters.”
In a series of messages received by our correspondent on Sunday, the mother disclosed that the 17-year-old girl returned home on Friday around 8 p.m. after being found in Ilorin, Kwara State capital.
She added that the teenager was believed to have been abducted in Lagos and taken to Ilorin, where she found herself.
“She said someone saw her (unconscious), and when she regained consciousness, she was told she was in Ilorin. And the person put her on a Lagos-bound bus. She has been taken to the hospital,” said Rukayyah.
