The wife of popular Nigerian comedian AY, Mabel Makun, has said that her silence on the recent breakup with her husband should not be misunderstood, stating that she has faith in a brighter future.

She also regretted that her dreams of a lifelong marriage have taken a different direction.

This was disclosed in a post shared on her Instagram account on Wednesday, as she further expressed gratitude for the supportive messages she received from family members and friends.

Mabel stated that the father of her children whom she had been with for years deserves some level of respect despite their separation.

She wrote, “Many lies have been peddled against me and attack orchestrated on the social media space but I will honour my kids with my silence and not address any of these lies.

“Although my dreams of a lifelong marriage have taken a different direction now, I’m committed to moving forward with grace and resilience.

“I have faith in a brighter future for both myself and the children. Despite the rumors or opinions, I find comfort in the belief that all will be fine.

“While it is unexpected for things to end this way, I quietly ask for guidance from my faith as I step into this new chapter of life.

“Also, as we navigate this new change, I ask for your help in creating an atmosphere of respect and understanding. This is a challenging period, and I ask for privacy and consideration as we (my ex-husband and I) find our own path forward. I wish him the very best in this journey as well.”

On April 7, 2024, Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, confirmed the development in a post shared on his Instagram page on Sunday.

He said he had reached a stage where he could no longer entertain the public with “deep personal family issues.”

AY Makun married Mabel in November 2008, and the two have two children together.
