The Nationwide Company for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Individuals (NAPTIP) has intercepted 12 trafficked kids who have been on their option to Lagos State.
The victims, who have been intercepted in Abuja, have been handed over to the Nasarawa State authorities.
Moses Unongo, NAPTIP’s head of operations within the state, acknowledged that the victims, aged between 10 and 23 years, have been lured by a cleric from Ninghar village in Akwanga native authorities space of Nasarawa.
In line with Unongo, the cleric promised the victims worthwhile jobs in Lagos and high quality schooling for the minors amongst them.
Unongo acknowledged that investigations have been ongoing to uncover extra information in regards to the perpetrator and urged dad and mom to teach their kids in regards to the risks of trafficking.
He acknowledged NAPTIP’s dedication to sensitizing the general public to stop them from falling sufferer to trafficking.
Aisha Rufai Ibrahim, the commissioner for girls affairs and social growth in Nasarawa State, obtained the victims on behalf of the state authorities.
Rufai recommended NAPTIP for its efforts in combating trafficking and reiterated the state authorities’s zero-tolerance stance on trafficking.
She acknowledged the state’s enactment of the Violence In opposition to Individuals Prohibition invoice as a measure to curb the actions of traffickers.
