Navy intercepts N86bn stolen crude

The Nigerian Navy operations within the Niger Delta area between January and February 2024 have led to the arrest and restoration of stolen crude oil from totally different legal gangs working within the area.

This was confirmed in a press release by Rear Admiral AO Ayo-Vaughan, Director of Data of the Nigerian Navy.

The recovered gadgets are 60,815.77 barrels of crude oil value about $5.218 million (N8.12bn); 557,580 litres of illegally refined Automated Gasoline oil (AGO) value N497 million; Twin-purpose Kerosene (DPK) value N5.5 million and 9,000 litres of premium Motor Spirits (PMS) valued at N5.490 million.

Ayo-Vaughan mentioned the oil thieves have been denied about N8.6 billion, which may have been used to perpetrate legal acts and threaten nationwide safety and prosperity.

He additionally mentioned a complete of 51 wood boats have been arrested whereas 105 unlawful refining ovens, 85 reservoirs and 288 dugout pits have been destroyed.

He added that 41 unlawful refining websites, IRS, and three fibre boats have been additionally destroyed through the operation.
