The Super Falcons of Nigeria have moved a step further to book a place in the Olympics games with a 1-0 win against South Africa in the first leg of the final test of qualifiers for the Paris 2024 games.
Rasheedat Ajibade 43rd-minute strike, from the penalty spot, was the difference between the two sides at the Moshood Abiola stadium on Friday evening.
Prior to the game, Ajibade, who plays for Atletico De Madrid Femenino as a winger, revealed that the Nigerian team would be out for vengeance against the South African team.
The 24-year-old has been in decent form for her club side this season, scoring five and assisting four playing primarily from the left wing.
She was in action over two legs as Nigeria sealed a 1-0 victory over the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in the third round of qualifiers.
The reverse fixture of the two-legged tie between Nigeria and South Africa will be held at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria on Tuesday, April 9.
Nigeria has not qualified for the Olympics since 2008.
