The Joint Action Committee of Northern Youth Associations has demanded for the expulsion of Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation, and Yemi Cadoso, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, over the planned relocation of agencies they supervise.
This was stated in a communiqué signed by the group’s convener, Murtala Abubakar; Director of Public Communication & Strategy, Hashim Tom Maiyashi; and Director, Gender Mobilization, Latifa Abdussalam.
It lauded the Northern caucus of the Senate while also urging members to remove Cardoso and Keyamo.
It advised against the move to sue the President to rescind the decision but stated that the lawmakers should rather give him a deadline to stop the relocation.
“Given the magnitude of the decisions by the CBN and FAAN that demonstrate the unsuitability of their chief executives to preside over federal institutions, we urge our representatives to demand the immediate removal of the Governor of the CBN and the Minister of Aviation from their positions,” it said.
According to the communiqué, it is not a punitive measure but an urgent step to restore public trust, ensure accountability, and uphold the constitutional integrity of key institutions that significantly influence Nigeria’s economic and administrative landscape.
It requested that members of the National Assembly carry out their whole legislative oversight role and that choices that affect the nation’s administrative and economic environment be made with competence, transparency, and adherence to constitutional norms.
