Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has warned youths to abandon any notion of reviving militancy in Ijaw land.
During a visit to the Igbomotoro community in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Area on Tuesday, Governor Diri emphasized that the era of militancy in the region is long gone.
Diri visited the community after the military invasion in search of suspected killers of the 17 soldiers in Okuama, Delta, on March 14.
Speaking at a town hall meeting with community leaders and members, Governor Diri condemned the brutal killing of the soldiers.

He expressed regret that the repercussions of the incident in Delta were affecting the people of Igbomotoro.
Governor Diri encouraged the military to continue their thorough investigation to identify the perpetrators and their backers.
