Troops deployed to Ochumekwu neighborhood in Apa Native Authorities Space of Benue State have reportedly been attacked by suspected armed herdsmen.
Drive Commander, Operation Whirl Stroke, OPWS, Main Normal Sunday Iserihen Igbinomwanhia, confirmed this to newsmen in Makurdi on Monday.
He mentioned a soldier was killed and one other injured within the assault by suspected herders.
Igbinonwanhia mentioned the troops, in response, killed three and injured a number of of the herdsmen, including that one AK-47 rifle and rounds of ammunition had been recovered from them.
He mentioned the OPWS is at present finishing up a clearance operation to flush out suspected armed overseas herders who’ve invaded the Kwande Native Authorities Space of the State.
