Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu continued his remarkable scoring form on Monday with a goal in the Belgian top flight.
The towering centre forward netted Genk’s third goal in their 3-2 win at Oud-Heverlee.
The goal was Onuachu’s 26th in 31 Belgian Pro League appearances, his 28th in 33 games in all competitions.
Kristian Thorstvedt gave Genk the lead after just seven minutes and it took Oud-Heverlee until the 74th minute before equalising through Xavier Mercier.
Theo Bongonda struck in the 81st minute to restore Genk’s lead, and Onuachu made sure of the win with an 83rd minute strike.
Thomas Henry scored again for the hosts in added time but they could not deny Genk the three points.
Onuachu, who scored twice in two Nigeria games during the March international break, was taken off in the 89th minute and replaced by his compatriot Cyril Dessers.
Genk are third in the Belgian Pro League table with 53 points from 32 matches. They are on course to finish high enough for the title play-offs.
The top four teams at the end of the regular season in the 18-team table will play off for the title and UEFA Champions League slots.
Genk are at the moment ahead of fourth and fifth-place Oostende and Anderlecht with four points.
