Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the recently-retired vice president of Nigeria, is scheduled to lead a 12-member COG for the elections in Sierra Leone this Saturday.
Osinbajo had agreed to take the helm of the Observer Group organised by the Commonwealth’s Secretary-General, Patricia Scotland, to monitor the general elections in Sierra Leone.
Osinbajo’s media advisor, Laolu Akande, confirmed his itinerary via his Twitter account, stating that the former Vice President will remain in Sierra Leone for the remainder of the month.
Akande stated: “Immediate Past Vice President Osinbajo is leading a 12-person Commonwealth Observer Group to Sierra Leone today to observe the elections there. On Monday, he will give a press conference address. He will remain in the nation the rest of the month. On the credibility of the election, the Osinbajo-COG will report later.
Since the end of the civil war in 2002, a Commonwealth Observer Group will be present to monitor elections in Sierra Leone for the fifth time.
