Isaac Omodewu, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, claims that the demand for the dissolution of the state executive committee is nothing more than wishful thinking on the part of some political figures.

In a statement made on Saturday in Ibadan, Omodewu addressed a remark that was purportedly made over the weekend by Senator Ayoade Adeseun, a former member of congress.

According to Adeseun, a temporary executive committee was going to take the place of the APC’s current executive committee in Oyo State.

He had stated that the action would be the first step in the APC’s new standing within the state.

Omodewu expressed concern at Adeseun’s careless use of caution when making the remarks.

The former federal lawmaker, he noted, was not currently a member of the APC since he had been working tirelessly for his own party, the Accord Party, during the recently held general elections.

“We can recall that Sen. Adeseun gave others the confidence to reject all attempts made to keep them in the APC after their disappointment at the conclusion of the party primaries held to choose candidates for the 2023 general elections.

“The current APC executive committee is the result of a lawful congress, and in our democracy, there is no space for fiat that would allow one person to compel the dissolution of party executive committees.

As far as we are concerned, we are focused on the task at hand and would stop at nothing to guarantee that all disgruntled members who defected from our party in 2022 and new members from other political parties are drawn to the Oyo State APC, according to Omodewu.

He continued, saying that their efforts had so far produced fruitful outcomes.

“Recently we accepted the 2023 governorial candidates of Labour Party, Mr. Tawfiq Akinwale, and that of Action Peoples Party, Mr. Kazeem Ayandoye, along with their countless supporters into the APC while many of those who left in 2022 have also returned,” Omodewu said.
