The paramount ruler of the Idoma nation, His Royal Highness, Agabaidu Elias Ikoyi Obekpa, is dead.
The late monarch who was the Chairman of Idoma Traditional Council, was born on December 21, 1944, in Ogbadibo.
A trained teacher, business administrator, public servant and traditionalist, Obekpa became the Och’Idoma in 1996.

And in over 25 years on the throne, he was hailed as a man of peace and harmony.
This prompted the Federal Government to confer him with the award of the Commander of the Order of the Niger in 2006.
He married in 1969 and is blessed with nine children.
