The News Agency of Nigeria quotes ir Peace as saying that a traveller who allegedly stole N1 million from another traveler’s bag on one of its flights has been apprehended.
The incident happened on board flight P47192 from Abuja to PHC on July 27, according to a statement released by airline spokesperson Stanley Olisa on Wednesday.
According to Olisa, the thief stole the money from a brown envelope but was apprehended by the owner after staff from the airline intervened.
He explained that the suspect had taken the computer bag from the overhead compartment of a different passenger during the flight.
Later, he took the brown envelope containing the cash, placed the computer bag in a different luggage compartment, and sat down in an open seat at the back of the plane.

Despite the crew’s announcement of a proper disembarkation sequence, Olisa claimed that the suspect was among the first few to leave the ship.
He claimed that the suspect was eventually apprehended and had the money taken from him after it was discovered that he was carrying a variety of currencies of various denominations.
According to Olisa, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria’s security personnel received the suspect and handed him over to the police so they could continue their investigation.
He claimed that although the police had later confirmed that he had been released on bail, there was little chance of him being charged because the owner of the money was not interested in continuing the case.
