A 29-year-old man, Anuoluwapo Aderemi, collapsed and later passed away while travelling on a commercial bus from Papalanto Motor Park in Ogun State to Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

Our correspondent learnt that the incident occurred on Tuesday at a filling station in Itori around 7:45 pm.

The command’s spokesperson, Odutola Omolola, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Wednesday and stated that the deceased’s family had been informed.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the bus driver, Akeem Olorode, reported the incident to the Ewekoro Divisional Police Headquarters.

Odutola said, “The driver was en route to Ibadan with a bus that seats 18 passengers, but was carrying only 15 travellers when they departed from Papalanto.

“At around 7:00 pm, the driver stopped at a filling station in Itori to refuel. While filling the tank, other passengers alerted him that one of the passengers was acting strangely and had become unconscious.”

As other passengers reportedly made desperate attempts to administer first aid, PUNCH Metro learnt that the traveller collapsed and passed away inside the bus.

Upon receiving the report, Odutola stated that police detectives from the division were sent to the scene, where they found the deceased along with other passengers.

She added, “It was later revealed that the deceased was a resident of Ibadan. He was transported to a state hospital in Ifo, where a doctor on duty confirmed his death.
