Police arraign man for allegedly stealing cellular phone

The police on Wednesday, arraigned a 32-year-old man, Alaba Lamidi, in an Ado-Ekiti Justice of the Peace’s Courtroom for alleged stealing of a cellular phone.

Lamidi, whose residential tackle was not given is standing trial on a cost of stealing.

The defendant, nonetheless, pleaded not responsible to the cost most well-liked in opposition to him.

The Police Prosecutor, Insp Yomi Osuolale, had earlier knowledgeable the court docket that the defendant dedicated the offence someday in December 2023 at about 12:00 pm at Atikankan Space in Ado-Ekiti.

Osuolale stated the defendant stole one Tecno POP 2 telephone valued at N100,000 belonging to Garba Umar.

He stated that the offence contravened Part 302 of the Legal Regulation of Ekiti State, 2021.

He urged the court docket to adjourn the case to allow him to review the file and assemble his witnesses.

Counsel to the defendant, Mrs Adunni Olanipekun, urged the court docket to grant the defendant bail, with a promise that he wouldn’t soar bail.

The Justice of the Peace, Mrs Olubunmi Bamidele, granted the defendant bail within the sum of N20,000 with one surety in like sum.

She adjourned the case till March 21 for listening to.
