Police confirm kidnapping of four Nasarawa varsity students

The Nigeria Police Force’s Nasarawa State Command has reported that gunmen invaded a town in the state’s Keffi Local Government Area, kidnapping four university students and taking them to an unidentified location.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the incident and stated that the pupils were abducted near Angwan Ka’are in the LGA early on Tuesday.

On the other hand, he claimed that Maiyaki Baba, the Commissioner of Police, had given the order to pursue the offenders in order to save the victims’ lives.

“The command is aware of the kidnapping as a distress call was received about 12:55 am stating that unknown armed men broke into a house located at Angwan Kaare in Keffi.”In order to save the four victims unharmed, the police, working with the military, responded appropriately and searched the area, but to no avail. “The Commissioner of Police has ordered a manhunt for the culprits,” the statement reads.

As for the abducted students, our correspondent’s research turned up the following names: Rosemary Samuel, a 100-level student of business administration; Josephine Gershon, a 100-level student of computer science; Rahila Hanya, a 100-level student of the Science Laboratory Technology department; and Goodness Samuel, a 100-level student of the Geography department.
The university’s Information and Protocol Officer, Comrade Abraham Ekpo, informed our correspondent that no formal reports regarding the incident had been filed with the institution when he was approached to inquire about the school’s response to the occurrence.

“The Vice Chancellor has not yet received a report from the SUG regarding the incident, and we are unable to comment until we receive an official report from the SUG or the police.” Just like you, we were informed of the situation, but we have not received any formal word from anyone,” he stated.
