Under the direction of the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service, almost 1,200 hunters from all Local Government Areas in Osun State have finished a 4-day course in information collection.
Additionally, the trainees were included in the inter-agencies interactions component of the exercise at the Ataoja School of Science in Osogbo to better prepare them for the duty of aiding in crime prevention.
The National Provost, NHFSS, Kehinde Ogunlade, spoke to the attendees during the programme’s final session on Monday. He emphasised the value of training for security volunteers to keep them up to date on their responsibilities.
In a similar vein, Ahmed Nureni, the NHFSS commander for Osun, stated that officers from the Immigration Service, Department of State Security, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and Osun State Command of the Nigeria Police Force trained the participants.

Nureni continued, “We had 1,200 hunters attend the 4-day training from all around Osun State. Officers from the DSS, NSCDC, Osun State Command of the Nigerian Police, and the Immigration Service were present to instruct our personnel on their duties.
The trainers divided the participants into various groups and walked them through various facets of our profession.
“More importantly, they received training on how to interact with traditional security agencies to get the best results possible in maintaining the environment’s safety for state inhabitants. We also received instruction in obtaining intelligence.
“We intend to continue doing this frequently. We have plans for hunters in this state that include it. We are familiar with the entire state and its surrounding woodlands. We have decided to help conventional security firms as part of our quota, but we can’t do that without the necessary information.
