The Benue State Police Command says its operatives have recovered not less than eight corpses following a conflict between two militia gangs in Gbagir group of Ukum Native Authorities Space of the state.
reporter earlier reported how two rival militia teams clashed locally, resulting in the loss of life of not less than 45 individuals.
Bother began after a Benue militia chief in Ukum LGA allegedly kidnapped a Taraba militia chief, one Alhaji Gana, and his members of the family.
In line with reviews, the abductees, from the neighbouring Chinkai group in Wukari LGA of Taraba State, had been recognized for banditry and kidnapping.
An area supply alleged that the Benue militia demanded N100 million ransom from the abductees however N5 million was finally paid.
When contacted by reporter, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Catherine Anene, confirmed the assault.
The PPRO, who confirmed the restoration of corpses, mentioned the Command has commenced investigation to unravel the basis explanation for the incident.
She mentioned, “Info was obtained about an assault on a group in Ukum. Upon arrival, eight corpses had been recovered. Investigation is ongoing.”
